Facts (generated by robot; please edit if you find it inaccurate)
- In a diabetic, the blood glucose is usually higher after fasting, rises more after the glucose solution and takes from four to six hours to come down.
- Some studies have shown a difference in readings taken from a finger versus the forearm when blood glucose is low.
- If blood glucose is high, then no glucagon is secreted.
- Use blood from a fingertip rather than an alternative site if: you think your blood glucose is low, you don't regularly have symptoms when your blood glucose is low, or how you feel doesn’t match the results from the alternative site.
- This is especially true when your blood glucose is rapidly changing, like after a meal or after exercise.
