Facts

  • The bone is a rigid connective tissue that makes up the skeleton of vertebrates.
  • Made mostly of collagen, bone is living, growing tissue.
  • Osteoporosis is a progressive bone disease in which bone tissue is normally mineralized, but the amount of bone is decreased and the structural integrity of trabecular bone is impaired, becoming more brittle.
  • Bones are composed of fibres of a material called collagen filled in with minerals - mainly calcium salts.
