Facts

  • Cellulitis is a bacterial infection of the skin and it's characterized by redness, swelling, edema and tenderness.
  • Cellulitis appears as an inflammation of the tissues indicating a local infection.
  • Most commonly it appears on the face and lower legs but also skin on other areas of the body may sometimes be involved.
  • Skin infection that spreads rapidly
  • Main treatment is with appropriate antibiotics.
  • It has no similarities with cellulite which is a cosmetic condition featuring dimpling of the skin.
