Facts

• Cervical cancer is cancer in the cervix, the lower, narrow part of the uterus attached to the top of the vagina.
• Cervical cancer appears when normal cells in the cervix change into cancer cells.
• Cervical cancer can be detected in early stages through Papanicolaou (Pap) tests.
• Symptoms could appear as vaginal bleeding but they also may be absent until the cancer is in its advanced stages.
