Facts
- Cholecystitis is inflammation of the gallbladder.
- Cholecystitis causes severe abdominal pain.
- The inflammation is most commonly caused by gallstone(s).
- Cholecystitis occurs most often in obese women older than 40.
- The most common symptoms are pain in the right upper quadrant, constant and severe that could also be felt as the right flank pain. Other symptoms may include a low grade fever, vomiting and nausea.
