Use

Clotrimazole is an anti-fungal medication related to fluconazole (Diflucan), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), and miconazole (Micatin, Monistat).
Clotrimazole can be used topically on the skin, inserted vaginally or allowed to dissolve in the mouth for local fungal infections.
Clotrimazole is used for candida infections like jock itch and athletes foot, and to treat thrush infections of the esophagus and mouth.
Chemicaliy, clotrimazole is 1-(a-Chloro, a, a-diphenylbenzyl) imid-azole, with the empirical formula C22H17ClN2 and a molecular weight of 344.
Clotrimazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent that inhibits the growth of pathogenic yeasts by altering the permeability of cell membranes.
