condition in which bowel movements are infrequent or incomplete.

Facts

• The infrequent or difficult passage of hard, dry stools.
• Constipation is not usually a serious disorder.
• Constipation is likely to happen when you don't drink enough water, milk or fruit juices, or if you don't eat a healthy diet that includes enough fiber.
• Chronic constipation is a long-term problem with your bowel movements.
