  • Diabetic neuropathy is a long term complication of diabetes that occurs when the nerves are damaged.
  • A condition in which portions of the spinal cord and its nerves have degenerated as a result of diabetes.
  • Diabetic neuropathy is classified into several syndromes, each with a distinct pattern of involvement of the peripheral nerves; a patient often has multiple or overlapping syndromes.
  • The most common expression of diabetic neuropathy is a loss of sensation in the feet and occasionally in the hands.
