Whereas the 2D structure of the pure acid shows little resemblance to its 3D structure, the 2D molecular sheet of the supramolecular assembly from a 2:1 mixture of the diacid and diazine is identical to a projection plane of the corresponding 3D crystal.
But the n+/n- splitting for the 1,3-diazine is almost as large and what is worse is that the n+/n- pattern for the 1,4-diazine is reversed from what it should be.
Hetero ring other than 1,2- or 1,4-diazine is part of a polycyclo ring system 254 .
