  • Endometriosis is a progressive disease that tends to get worse over time and can reoccur after treatment.
  • Endometriosis is a troubling disease that affects millions of women worldwide.
  • Scientific data now support the concept that endometriosis is largely the result of transplantation of viable cells exfoliated from the endometrium to ectopic locations.
  • Endometriosis is a disorder that includes the presence of endometrial tissue that normally lines the uterus in abnormal locations such as the ovaries, fallopian tubes, bladder and even bowels.
  • Endometriosis can cause many uncomfortable symptoms like extremely painful periods and painful sex, heavy or irregular periods, back pain, nausea, fatigue, general pain in the pelvic area, gastrointestinal problems like diarrhoea, bloating and painful and bloody defecation and infertility but it could also be asymptomatic.
  • There are no known causes of endometriosis and it can occur in any woman of childbearing age, and can run in families.
