  • Endometrium changes as a response to female hormones, resulting in a 28-day cycle involving menstruation during which much of the endometrium is sloughed off to be rebuilt again.
  • Endometrium is a mucous membrane that grows during each menstrual cycle and is shed in menstrual blood.
  • Endometrium is cast off during menstrual period, and it regenerates getting thicker in order to provide a nourishing environment for a fertilized egg.
  • During pregnancy, the embryo implants into the endometrium and receives food through it.
