Facts
- A non-cancerous (benign) tumor.
- A fibroid is the most common growth found inside a womans uterus.
- A benign uterine growth that can affect fertility and cause abnormal uterine bleeding and pain.
- Fibroids can grow as a single growth or in clusters
- The most common symptoms include heavy bleeding or painful periods, bleeding between periods, feeling of fullness in the pelvic area (lower abdomen), urination frequency, pain during sex, lower back pain and reproductive problems.
- The cause of fibroids is not known.
