Facts
- Hypertension a.k.a high blood pressure is defined as a systolic blood pressure greater than 140 mm Hg and/or diastolic blood pressure greater than 90 mm Hg.
- Prehypertension is when your systolic blood pressure is between 120 and 139 or your diastolic blood pressure is between 90 and 99.
- Hypertension cannot be cured but it could be maintained with medications.
- There are numerous types of medications used to treat hypertension. They are sometimes used in combination.
- If not treated, hypertension can lead to kidney disease, heart disease and stroke.
