Notes Although the I element is physical markup and logical markup is to be preferred in general, there is a lot of use for I, particularly because there is no text-level element for quotations in general in HTML 3.
The I element is a suitable choice for marking a structure for which no phrase element exists.
For example, the B start and end tags overlap the I start and end tags: He then shouted In CMarkup, the I element is treated as a child of the B element.
The I element is a formatting element, but tells the browser or program nothing about why that word or phrase is italicized.
The cis-acting regulatory element interrupted by the I element is required, to drive tsh expression in the regions of the developing adult that give rise to proximal wing and haltere tissues.
