The Piri Re'is Map is only one of several anomalous maps drawn in the 15th Century and earlier which appear to represent better information about the shape of the continents than should have been known at the time.
A geologic map is usually printed on top of a regular map (called a base map) to help you locate yourself on the map.
The National Map is a consistent framework for geographic knowledge needed by the Nation.

This map is of higher resolution than my older Voyager 2 map so the improvement is significant since these renderings include closeups of Jupiter's dynamic atmosphere.
