  • Malabsorption represents inability to efficiently absorb nutrients from the intestinal tract.
  • Cause of Malabsorption can be a variety of reasons including diseases of the bowels that impair absorption.
  • Fructose malabsorption is associated with early signs of mental depression.
  • Fructose malabsorption is associated with decreased plasma tryptophan.
  • Common cause of malabsorption is insufficient production of digestive enzymes by the pancreas, as occurs with some pancreatic diseases, or by the small intestine, as occurs in lactose deficiency.
