cessation of menstruation in the human female, usually occurring around the age of 50.

• Menopause is a natural event, the end of fertility, resulting from the ovaries slowing down production of two sex hormones: estrogen and progesterone.
• Male menopause a physical condition with psycho- logical, interpersonal, social, and spiritual dimensions.
• Menopause is a normal part of life, just like puberty.
• Natural menopause is the transition between perimenopause and postmenopause, the entire process culminating with the ceasing of the menses, generally around age 50 for most women.
