The Peppered Moth is routinely used as an example of evolution.
Our local female yucca moth is a small black moth about 8-10 mm long.
The moth is distinctive because its wings are crisscrossed with lighter gray lines, and there is a bronze or copper-colored patch near the outer margins of the forewings.
However, because a cecropia moth is colorful as well as large, when you do see one for the first time, you won't forget it! Like most moths, they are attracted to bright lights.
