Use

Heat nociception is severely reduced in a mutant mouse deficient for the L1 adhesion molecule.
Opiate anti-nociception is attenuated following lesion of large dopamine neurons of the periaqueductal grey: critical role for D1 (not D2) dopamine receptors.
Nociception is a neurophysiologic term and denotes the activity in the nerve pathways.
In the awake patient, nociception is always accompanied by pain, the expression of which (vocalisation, somatic movement) allows us to detect and monitor its presence.
Nociception is the activity produced in the nervous system by noxious (potentially tissue-damaging) stimuli.
