  • Similar Species: Due to the morphology, size, site of assembly and nucleic acid of the baculoviral midgut gland necrosis virus (BMNV) it has been proposed to be a member of the genus Non-Occluded Baculovirus, subfamily Nudibaculovirinae, and family Baculoviridae.
  • The features placed this virus in the family Baculoviridae, subfamily Nudibaculovirinae as PmNOBII, but for convenience we have named it informally as Systemic Ectodermal and Mesodermal Baculovirus (SEMBV).
  • Based on the morphological characteristics and genomic structures of the virus, the authors classified the virus into the genus belonging to non-occluded baculovirus (NOB) of the sub- family Nudibaculovirinae of the Baculoviridae.
  • The Baculoviridae can be divided into two sub-families: the Eubaculovirinae (occluded baculoviruses) and the Nudibaculovirinae (non-occluded baculoviruses).
