Facts

• Orchitis is inflammation of one or both testes. It is characterized by pain and swelling.
• If orchitis is caused by a bacterial infection, antibiotics will treat it.
• In men younger than 35 years of age epididymo-orchitis is most often caused by sexually transmitted pathogens such as Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae2.
• Epididymo-orchitis is inflammation of the testis and epididymis.
