Pleurisy is a type of chest pain you may have when the internal lining of your chest wall, called the pleura, is inflamed.
Pleurisy is swelling (inflammation) of the thin layers of tissue (pleura) covering the lungs and the chest wall.
Pleurisy is inflammation of the linings around the lungs (the pleura).
If the fluid content remains unchanged by the disease, the pleurisy is said to be dry.
When pleurisy is caused by a bacterial lung infection, it can be associated with a pus-filled pleural effusion.
