- Skin infections are common disease and they may be caused by bacteria, fungi or viruses.
- About 90% of fungal skin infections are caused by "dermatophytes", which are parasitic fungi who affect the skin, hair, or nails
- Bacteria can cause different types of skin infection such as boils, carbuncles, furuncles, cellulitis, abscesses, impetigo, and erysipelas.
