  • Marijuana is usually smoked as a cigarette (joint, nail) or in a pipe (bong).
  • Some of the street names for marijuana are pot, herb, weed, grass, widow, ganja, hash, etc
  • The main active chemical in marijuana is THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol).
  • One of the dangers of smoking marijuana is the possibility that it has been laced with another, more dangerous substance such as cocaine, crack, PCP, or even embalming fluid.
  • When THC reaches the lungs, it passes quickly into the bloodstream, which carries the chemical to organs throughout the body. THC binds to the protein receptors in the brain and start a series of cellular reactions that in the end lead to the high that users experience with marijuana.
