The reaction of photosynthesis can be written as the following chemical equation when sucrose is being made: 12 CO2 + 11 H2 O = C12 H22 O11 + 12 O2 carbon dioxide + water= sucrose + oxygen This shows that oxygen is given off during the process of photosynthesis.
+ + H2O The glycosidic bond for the sucrose is sometimes referred to as an a-b-1-2 bond, because there's an alpha-OH from the glucose bonding to a beta-OH from the sucrose, and we're going from the #1 carbon on the glucose to the #2 carbon on the fructose.
Note the spelling: sucrose is a sugar, and sucrase is the enzyme which digests it.
Sucrose is actively transported into the phloem by the companion cells.
Sucrose is obtained from the juice of sugarcane or the sugar beet and from the sap of the sugar maple.
