  • The two main types of thyroid disorder are hypothyroidism which represents too little produced hormone and hyperthyroidism which represents too much produced hormone
  • The most common thyroid disorder is an underactive thyroid, or hypothyroidism.
  • Hypothyroidism occurs when the thyroid doesn't produce enough thyroxine.
  • Symptoms of hyperthyroidism are insomnia, irritability, nervousness and unexplained weight loss.
  • Symptoms of hypothyroidism are slowing down - coldness, sluggishness, dry skin and scanty hair growth.
