I recently saw an Endocrinologist and was told that my thyroid is enlarged. When I received the results of my blood test I was told that my results were normal. I would like to know if there is any treatment available to decrease the size of my gland. Can this lead to any long term damage? I would like to know if it is possible that hypothyroidism could go undetected by blood tests considering that I gained 18 pounds in one month and could an abnormally functioning adrenal gland cause the same symptoms of weight gain?
I have had in the past 10 years Endocrinologist suspect I had a thyroid problem, however after a blood test my levels were within a normal range. I took Accutane five years ago and had a weight gain, which was unexplained. I saw a nutritionist, doctor and trainer, but continue to gain weight. It, finally, about 2 years after I took Accutane, got back down to normal. I have a family history of thyroid problems and have had people tell me I have symptoms, like being tired and cold all the time. Anyway I was wondering what to tell a doctor to receive proper diagnosis of this. I am tired of this and I became over weight.
