Hello there! Your mom won’t certainly die from this condition but it would be helpful if you could give me more info like what kind of symptoms she was/is having, how old she was, what kind of treatment she was prescribed by her doctor and where exactly the lining was growing.
I can tell you a little bit about this problem. Every month during ovulation, a lining of the uterus grows because it is getting ready to accept a fertilized egg that would grow into a baby. When pregnancy doesn’t occur, this lining breaks down and is being shed through vaginal opening and this is what we call periods. In endometriosis, the cells of the lining of the uterus are present on other organs besides uterus and this lining grows on these organs as well (ovaries, fallopian tubes, bowels, bladder). The problems is that this lining grows on these other organs, it has no place to leave from the body, so it dissolves in the insides and causes swelling and inflammations and many unwanted symptoms like bleeding, pain, etc
Complications are rare but the lining could cause obstructions of the gastrointestinal or urinary tracts.
If your mother is approaching menopause, then this condition will resolve on its own soon as she will stop ovulation and the lining won’t be forming anymore. However, if she still have years till menopause, her doctor will decide the best treatment. She may be given contraceptives to prevent ovulation, or suggested surgical procedure. She should work with her doctor and see what the best solution it would be. |
