endometrial biopsy venting!

Hi, I will have endometrial biopsy in a few days done. I can’t get pregnant for more then a year, so among other examinations which revealed no dysfunction, this one is next to be done. Why is it performed? What can be discovered by it?

An endometrial biopsy is a procedure to take a sample of the lining of the uterus called endometrium, in order to examin it under a microscope for abnormal cells. The endometrium is normally going through stages of change during the menstrual cycle, prepering uterus for accepting egg or to detect if any cancerous cells are present. There are several methods of taking an endometrial biopsy sample. Sexual hormones estrogen and progesterone are responsible for endometrial growing and proper development of lining of the uterus during menstrual cycle. Endometrial biopsy can be used to check if the uters is prepared to acomodate and nourish fertilized egg and enables pregnancy.
