I would like to know what is wrong with my son. He is 23 years old and just started working. It seems to me that he is tired all the time. I somehow convinced him to go see a doctor where they determined that he has enlarged spleen. They are waiting for further results, but it seems that he is suffering from mononucleosis. I do not know anything about that illness, and I just cannot wait those results for confirmation. Is that a dangerous condition?
Yes and no. It is caused by a virus infection; he could have gotten it by a simple kiss. Symptoms are tiredness and enlarged lymphatic nods, which results in enlarged spleen and liver. There is no concrete cure, he needs to rest a lot and take vitamins. Doctors can only monitor progress of this condition that should disappear on its own after a while.
