Has your doctor told you what has caused your uterus to enlarge? Is it uterine fibroids or maybe even adenomyosis?

How old are you?

Uterine fibroids are abnormal masses of tissue that are almost always benign. They usually appear in women between the age of 35 and 45 years and never before puberty. After menopause, they can stop growing or even disappear but they could also be removed if they are causing too much trouble.

There is usually a couple of them and they can grow on several places inside the uterus. Even when it is only one big fibroid, it could make your uterus swell and your stomach feel hard and full.

Uterine fibroids are very common in women but it is not known what casues them. AT first, it was thought that excessive estrogen was to blame and that women who used BC pills were more prone to developing fibroids, however, new studies show that bc pills can even help reduce their growth.

The problem with fibroids is that they often reoccur after removal.

Adenomyosis is a disorder in which a uterine lining grows within the thick, muscular layer of the uterus.
