enphysema continued smoking

I have a question for you. Is it possible that people smoking cigarettes continue with this bad habit even after they have been diagnosed with some serious illness that affects lungs? A man diagnosed with enphisema continued smoking on as if it is quite a normal thing. How to prove them that they are being stupid?

You do realize that it is hard to leave cigarettes. Nicotine addiction is on the top5, maybe even top 3 lists of addictions, in spite of many drugs and hallucinogens. There is little test, measure their FEV before and after the smoked cigarette, there is a big difference in numbers. In addition, you can always show them radiological picture of lungs destroyed by nicotine. Not a nice sight at all, believe me, I saw it.
