epididymis painful lump

I know that the back of testicle should be lumpy because of epididymis but what may be the reason of a painful lump? I am a bit worried as I have never experienced pain in that area. Is it serious or it could be nothing? All replies are more than welcome! Thx

I believe it is something that needs doctors evaluation. Now I know this sounds like the worst possible solution but better to found out what it is in time then to regret it later. Anyway, there are a few possible things: Cysts are quite common to develop around the epididymis. These are nothing to worry about, but only a doctor can tell the difference between cysts and something else that needs to be investigated further. Painful lumps can be caused an infection with chlamydia, E. coli or another bacterium. Rarely it is a symptom of cancer. The important thing is that you shouldn’t leave this unchecked, as it may lead to more serious consequences.
