My son has acne problems for many years now. When he realized that is not caused just by puberty hormone imbalance, he wanted to do something about it. He went to the dermatologist who said he should treat this condition with medicines. Doctor prescribed him Erythromycin Ethylsuccinate. Now I am worried if that drug is to strong to treat just acne, so I want to hear more about it and its side effects.

Erythromycin Ethylsuccinate is medicine used to treat many kinds of infections. Generally, erythromycins are best taken with a full glass of water on an empty stomach. He should take it at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals. If stomach upset occurs, these medicines may be taken with food. For treatment with this medicine, adults should take 400 to 800 mg two to four times a day. Anyway, he should take it as his doctor prescribed him, or as it is written on the label. Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects, such as any other drug. Although, not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention as soon as it is possible. Less common side effects of Erythromycin Ethylsuccinate is fever, nausea, skin rash, redness or itching. He might notice stomach pain, and unusual tiredness or weakness. There are some other side effects may occur, that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine, and these are abdominal or stomach cramping with diarrhea and nausea.
