My mother suffers from esophagus spasms. She has problem with swallowing and heartburn. I would like to know what causes esophagus spasms and how is treated? I will appreciate any information about this condition. Thank you!
During swallowing the food, muscles in esophagus contract in a coordinated fashion to push the food to your stomach. So, esophageal spasms are unjust, uncoordinated and sometimes strong contractions of the esophageal muscles. The cause is not really known but people with acid reflux are potential risk.
