even little things that i could do in the house like sit ups, leg lifts, etc.
anything like that or something of that sort ever work for anyone if its done everyday?
any suggestions would be appreciated.

You cannot spot-train any parts of your body. Ever. Go run, swim, bike, hike, lift weights, play a sport.

Do yoga, swim, jog/run. Yoga and swimming work for me.

I agree that you cannot spot train any part of the body but I also want to throw out there that I HATE running, and I will never do it. It's so bad for your knees and your feet, even if you do run properly. What you should do is start working out small and work your way up to bigger things. I would start with doing pushups daily and then work your way up to doing full work outs so that it's more enjoyable. I hated it at first but now I enjoy it a lot.
