I received a false positive result on a recent drug test. In addition to taking Naproxen I recently was taking a prescription drug Ibuprofen. I found out that Ibuprofen can cause a false positive. This is not my doctor who detested me, I called him and explained what is happening but he didn’t believe me and he reported me to my director. I was fired from and they will not re test unless I can give them a reason for a false positive. How can I convince them?
Yes, ibuprofen is pain reliever which even in low doses used to cause a false positive for marijuana in drug test. Changes were made in these test because of frequently false positive results but with other anti-inflammatory such as Naproxen will still interfere with the EMIT test. A false positive is a positive drug test result when you have not used any drug, since you saying that you did not use marijuana at all and that you believe that these two medications caused the false positive then this is very unfair. I suggest that you request an interview with the MRO or consult your union steward if you are in a union, the personnel director, or possibly your attorney.
