The most common infertility drugs are Human Menopausal Gonadotrophin, Bromocriptine and Clomiphene.
These drugs besides having a good effect on your brain to produce more eggs for fertilization also have some side effects.
Of all women who that take the pills, 50% have multiple births. Although many women want twins (or triplets), these pregnancies are risky pregnancies for both mother and a children and if multiple pregnancies occur (especially if more than 2 eggs implant, there are bigger chances of children suffering from neurological disorders as well as different physical growth).
Besides possible leading to multiple pregnancies and therefore prematurely born babies, fertility drugs are also though of posing a risk of ovarian cancer.
A drug called Clomiphene is taken every day, it is a tablet, and it stimulates ovulation. It has some side effects like mood swings, ovarian enlargement, stomach pain, dry cervical mucus, and breast and ovarian cancer. Many women have success with it.
Human Menopausal Gonadotropin (hMG) is injected into the body for about 7-12 days and it also stimulates ovulation. It is usually given to those who didn’t take Clomiphene well and those women who have lower estrogen levels. It makes women gain weight and experience stomach pain.
Bromocriptine is given to decrease estrogen levels in women who have developed pituiatery gland tumor and suffer from high prolactin levels leading to so called hyperprolactinemic amenorrhea-menstrual absence.
This drug causes nausea, dizziness, low blood pressure, and headaches.
