I have problem with fluid retention for years. I put on weight because of this. My swellings were mostly on ankles. I had to reduce the amount of salt in my meals, avoid alcohol…foods like potato chips, peanuts. Vitamin supplements are useful with fluid retention, magnesium and calcium for example. I don’t know what else to say you except drink plenty of water and other fluids, but not tea and coffee.

I have been advised to follow these tips

Stop eating junk food….since it consists of salt.

Keep your feet active…..do cycling, walking, play tennis…any activity that keep your feet busy since these activities helps to help pump out water and other fluids that can pool in your legs and ankles

Take the load off your legs---If you have swollen calves, elevate your legs for a few minutes each day

And for medicines he prescribed bumex

I have this problem too. I've had it for years.
One woman, I know, said she eats celery (!) and it helps.
I do not like celery...so I have never tried this.
You sure aren't out anything by giving it a try.
I know this condition is absolutely miserable so I thought I'd pass this on.
Let others know if this helps you, okay?
