Hiccups are the result of spasms of the diaphragm that cause person to breathe in suddenly, and it happens with everyone, whether are you teenager or not. At the same time, glottis, or the opening between vocal chords closes. This is causing the hiccup sound. Hiccup can be caused by eating or drinking too quickly or too much, and it usually stop on its own. When it does not happen, some home remedies may actually work. For frequent hiccups, you can try to breathe in, hold your breath, and exhale, repeating this. You can also drink water while holding your nose, or breathe into a paper bag. Commonly, it can help if you quickly bring your knees to your chest. Home remedy for frequent hiccups for teenagers is to take a spoonful of sugar, put it in your mouth, and let it dissolve slowly. In some rare cases, hiccups do not stop even after all this had been done. If this happens to you then I would recommend you to contact your doctor.
