gallstones disappeared prior to surgery

I had a gallbladder attack that landed me into the emergency room. I had a ct scan and ultrasound which showed one 3cm gallstone and another almost 2cm and a couple small ones in the bile duct. 6 weeks later I had my gallbladder laproscopically removed and the surgeon said they were gone. She only had some stones that looked like grains of sand to show for the operation. I'd like to hear from anyone who has had this happen. I didn't think they were suppose to disappear on their own in a 6 week time.
