I have a sister who was on her regular check up at her gynecologist. There he saw there is something wrong and made some tests. After some time she got diagnosis of Gardenella vaginitis. I have never heard for this problem, so both of us are confused. Could anyone tell us more about this problem called Gardenella vaginitis?

The main problem with Gardnella vaginitis and other infectious cervical disorders cause abnormal vaginal discharge. That is why I am surprised your sister did not notice she has problem with vaginal discharge. However, it is good news she gets her diagnosis and now she is able to treat it. You have to know that stimulating woman’s immune system with the herbs Echinacea and Goldenseal may help fight or prevent the infection. A healthy immune system plays an important role in prevention or recurrences of this infection, such as any other infection in human body. Treatment is simple and effective once the infection is diagnosed, so you should not be worried about your sister. The most important thing is to remember that Gardenella vaginitis and other infectious cervical disorders cause abnormal vaginal discharge as I already told you. Beside this, infection such as this one is not considered a sexually transmitted disease. However, multiple sex partners, douching, and using intrauterine devices increase the risk of developing this infection.
