My sister has genetic blood disorder. It is called sickle cell syndrome. I am worry about her and hers well being. Since we don't have any relatives, I must take care about her. Problem is that I do not know anything about this disease. I need all information you have, about disease itself, about treatment, home care etc.
The sickle cell syndromes are caused by a mutation in the gene. These changes produce the characteristic single shape of red cells. Manifestations of disease include episodes of pain and severe organ failure. The drug therapy includes antibiotics, narcotics, and hydration. And of course, they need special care, bought home and in hospital. Bone marrow transplantation can provide definitive cures but is known to be effective and safe only in children.
