What if a pregnant woman has genital warts? My friend is pregnant; we expect that she will deliver the baby in next two weeks. The problem is that genital warts occurred. We are all worried how this will affect the baby since she is going to have vaginal delivery.

If a pregnant woman has genital warts, she should tell her clinician. He/she can remove warts before the birth to keep them from bleeding during delivery. A cesarean section may be needed if warts are likely to bleed heavily, but rarely women transmit genital warts to the fetus during vaginal delivery. If so, this can result in serious medical conditions for the newborn, including problems with breathing and severe developmental disabilities.
