gooey discharge with little brown strips in it?

hi, i just had a baby 9 1/2 weeks ago, emergency c- section, because of marginal previa bleed. After the birth I had bleeding for around 6weeks then 1 weeks of light spotting here and there, now almost ten weeks later of and on clear discharge. I stopped breast feeding at 7 weeks and now yesterday when I was going to the bathroom a lot of gooey brown stringy things along with whitish yellow discharge came out... What is it? I called the doctor and he said it's normal that my my uterus is trying to regulate it self but this morning it happened again? Could this be a start of a period? Is this normal... when will it stop, just want to be normal again!
