had cancer 15 years ago...have pelvic pain and chills

My girlriends mom had uterus cancer 15 years ago and is now in hospital suffering from pelvic pain and chills, she had mentioned when she coughs she loses control of her pee and that had pus in it....She had a bad urinary infection last november.....They think it is just an infection possibly related to the burns she suffered from the radiation treatment. I know she isn't sexually active so can't be an STD. Is it possible it's just an infection or my worst fears......Any ideas please
