hard mass near scrotum

my husband noticed a large mass , hard between his left groin area and the testicle , tonight he showed me it and it looks like a mass of hard pea sized blisters but hard, he now has one on the right side looks like a lump with a pin hole in it , only nothing oozing just hard masses. He is faithfull and I to him for 14 years we have been tested due to infertility nature and it looks like right near his vasectomy scars... very painful he said? any advice
