having cramping on my left side of abdomam

I was wondering if anyone knew what this was or is it nothing. I have a cramping pain on my left side of my lower abdoman and its not on the right sode and i have no appendits what is it ? could it be my ovary? i am suppose to start my period next week.....Any ideas
