Hello. I have a heart murmur that was proved innocent after an echo scan. althought for some time now ive noticed that my heart has been pumping quite hard and u can see it beating throught the skin on my chest just below my left nipple. this is not just when im thinking about it or anxious its all the time and seems to worse at times. just thought i would ask for advice. thanks.

i wouldn't say that heart murmurs are ever innocent as they are the result of damage to your heart valves - however if it isnt causing any other problems i wouldn't be too worried at this stage.

as for the heartbeat - where you say it is is about right (for the apex beat location) so it doesnt sound like you have an enlarged heart due to over compensation for anything.

are you quite slim??? many slim people can see their heartbeats. palpitations (an awareness of your heartbeat) are quite common.

have you noticed a change in the speed of your heartbeat???

i would suggest you go to your dr about this as i wouldn't want to leave any worries about my heart alone!
