Hemorrhoids are very common disorder and are rarely serious but can give us hard times and in some cases they may turn into colon or rectal cancer. However, hemorrhoids need to be diagnosed and treated by a physician.
You didn’t mention what are the exact problems your husband have, is it only pains, itching or bleeding, or a little bit of everything? I can’t precisely suggest anything, but he should start by seeing a doctor. I assume he would visually examine his anus by using a medical device called anoscope. If needed some further and thorough examination, sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy can be performed. Meanwhile, make sure your husband keeps the anal area clean, using the mild soap and avoiding rubbing this area. When trombosis and pain occur, try to take hot baths a few times a day, this would provide relief from the pain. Also he should take some topical analgetics, such as Preparation H, or some medicated suppositories (Anusol).
If your husband’s problem is more serious than this, he shouldn’t delay seeing his doctor any longer.
